Riyadh Metro as an Infrastructure Example
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City describes the Riyadh Metro network as six lines covering approximately 176 km with 85 stations, rolled out for passenger operation in stages beginning in December 2024. This illustrates the scale of transportation assets in the Kingdom, but is not a claim that GEOUE worked on the metro.
For an existing metro network, monitoring needs may arise from adjacent construction, upgrades or asset-management activities. For new works, requirements may instead concern ground movement, excavation support and construction-stage effects. The distinction matters when specifying monitoring frequency and responsibility.

Ground movement
Inclinometers, extensometers and survey methods can observe changes when correctly installed and referenced.
Groundwater
Piezometers and standpipes provide groundwater or pore-pressure information appropriate to the hydrogeological context.
Structural response
Load cells, strain gauges, crackmeters, tiltmeters and prisms may be combined as the project requires.
